Belts are an essential accessory in men's fashion. However, products made from high-quality leather tend to lean towards overly classic or masculine designs. Our in-house project was initiated with the desire to create a belt that perfectly aligns with the brand's mood while meticulously implementing every detail.

This belt, as the brand's first in-house product, has been crafted with utmost care in every stage of processing and stitching. The brass buckle underwent a unique treatment where the coating was removed with sandpaper, followed by the addition of an artificial texture for a distinct feel. The buckle was then exposed to the elements for half a day to induce natural oxidation. Afterward, it was left to weather naturally in sunlight and air for several days to achieve the desired color and texture. Finally, a rust remover and protector were applied to eliminate any unnecessary rust and to prevent excessive oxidation.

The key factors that determine the quality of a leather product are edge finishing, stitching, and skiving. This belt exemplifies the highest quality in all these aspects. French-made linen thread from Lin Cable, waxed for durability, was used for the hand-stitched seams, and great care was taken in skiving the leather at the joints.

Special attention was given to the edge finishing, where we opted for burnishing instead of using edge paint. This process involved refining the edges with an edge beveler, smoothing the surfaces with progressively finer sandpaper, and then burnishing with oil, water, and a wooden stick. This was repeated until a satisfactory edge was achieved, and then finished with Tokonole, a Japanese edge finishing agent. The process involved multiple cycles of Tokonole application, wood burnishing, sanding, and finally, a wax and cloth burnish for the final touch.

The finished belt maintains the sturdiness of bridle leather while naturally conforming to the wearer’s body shape and lifestyle. The burnished edges will develop a richer texture over time, and the belt will gain character and elegance as it ages.
